Choosing a loose emerald
Begin with how you want to use the stone, then compare the details.
Begin with the intended setting
A ring, pendant or collection piece can call for different proportions. Share the intended use, preferred shape and budget with your advisor before narrowing the selection.
Compare dimensions as well as carats
Carat weight does not tell you everything about the face-up appearance. Ask for length, width and depth, and compare stones in similar lighting.
Look at the individual stone
Use photographs to shortlist pieces. At a viewing, consider color, visible inclusions and the overall appearance. Discuss disclosed treatment and ask to see supporting reports.
Arrange a viewing before travelling
Send us the reference number and your preferred date. We will help confirm the availability and viewing location of the piece you would like to see.
